More Affordable School Holidays: KAI Offers 30 Per Cent Discount on Commercial Economy Trains
PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) is introducing a 30 per cent fare discount programme for journeys using Commercial Economy class trains. This programme offers the public an opportunity to enjoy more cost-effective travel during the school holiday season, whether for tourism, visiting family, or various activities in various destination cities.
Anne Purba, Vice President of Corporate Communication at KAI, stated that the school holiday period is one of the times with high public mobility. During this period, many families utilise their time together to travel to various regions. Consequently, KAI is introducing more affordable fare programmes so that more people can plan trips using train transportation.
“The school holiday is a moment many families look forward to for travelling together. Through this 30 per cent discount programme, KAI aims to provide ease for the public to enjoy safe, comfortable, and affordable travel using trains,” said Anne.
The 30 per cent discount is applicable for ticket purchases starting from 6 June 2026 through all official KAI sales channels. The discounted fares can be used for travel between 20 June and 5 July 2026, coinciding with the school holiday period in various regions.
According to Anne, this programme is expected to assist the public in planning their journeys early while providing an economical transport alternative amidst the increasing demand for travel during the holiday season. Railways are also a preferred choice as they offer punctuality, travel comfort, and ease of access to various destination cities.
Various Commercial Economy train routes serving intercity journeys can be utilised by the public to reach tourist destinations, educational centres, cultural areas, and economic hubs across various regions. The presence of this discount programme also supports public movement during the school holidays while encouraging economic activity in the regions traversed by the trains.
The terms and conditions of the discount programme are as follows:
Discounted fares can be purchased through all ticket sales channels starting 6 June 2026.
The discount applies to departures between 20 June and 5 July 2026.
The discount is specifically applicable to the Commercial Economy class.
The discount does not apply to special fares and cannot be combined with other reductions and/or discounts.
Tickets with discounted fares can be cancelled and rescheduled in accordance with applicable regulations.
Train schedules and lists can be viewed via the Access by KAI application.
Valid while ticket allocations and discounted fares are available.
Anne added that this programme is presented to provide more space for the public to enjoy travel during the school holidays. With a service network reaching various cities and destinations, the railway serves as a means of transport capable of connecting the public to diverse travel goals safely, comfortably, and efficiently.
