MORAZEN Yogyakarta Holds Run For Fun 2026 to Strengthen Kulon Progo Sports Tourism

MORAZEN Yogyakarta successfully held a fun run event titled Run For Fun 2026 on Sunday (5/7). Centred in the West Parking area of MORAZEN Yogyakarta, this non-competitive activity attracted the enthusiasm of 300 participants from various regions, including Kulon Progo, Wates, Yogyakarta, Purworejo, Kebumen, and Wonosobo. Taking a 5-kilometre route, Run For Fun 2026 offered a sports experience combined with natural exploration. Participants were treated to panoramic views of green rice fields, the majesty of the Menoreh Hills, and a beautiful rural atmosphere along the running path. The presence of local residents cheering at several points along the route added to the excitement, making this event a means of recreation as well as promoting the potential of sports tourism in the Kulon Progo area. The event was officially opened by the Deputy Regent of Kulon Progo, Ambar Purwoko, accompanied by the General Manager of MORAZEN Yogyakarta, David Priambowo. The presence of local government officials underscored their support for private sector collaboration in promoting a healthy lifestyle and developing local tourism and the economy. In his remarks, Ambar Purwoko expressed high appreciation for MORAZEN Yogyakarta’s initiative. He assessed that this regional-scale activity has a real positive impact on the community and small business operators. ‘The Kulon Progo Regency Government gives high appreciation for the private sector’s initiative in holding a regional-scale activity like this. We are very pleased and greatly appreciate every activity that can provide a positive impact, both for public health and for the economy of MSME players,’ said Ambar. In addition to the fun run, the event was enlivened with various supporting activities. Participants joined a group exercise and Zumba session with Cik Mei, enjoyed musical entertainment, and took part in a door prize draw. MORAZEN Yogyakarta also provided a special area for local MSMEs to market their superior products, as a form of the hotel’s commitment to supporting the economic growth of the surrounding community. High enthusiasm was felt by the participants, one of whom was Siti (27), a participant from Wonosobo. She admitted to being impressed with the event concept that combines sports with nature tourism. ‘I am very happy to take part in this Run For Fun. Besides encouraging a healthy lifestyle, this event also provides an experience of enjoying the natural beauty of Kulon Progo. The view of the green rice fields and the fresh air made the running atmosphere more enjoyable,’ said Siti.
