Moon cakes at Pearl

The Pearl Chinese Restaurant at the JW Marriott Jakarta will
offer its legendary Mini Snow Skin moon cakes prepared by award-
winning dim sum chef Chee Hin Yew.

The moon cakes are being offered in conjunction with the Moon
Cake Festival, which is annually celebrated on the 15th day of
the eighth month of the Chinese calender. It is the third major
festival of the Chinese calendar.

The festival corresponds with harvest festivals observed by
Western cultures. In Hong Kong it is known as the Lantern
Festival.

During the festival, special sweet cakes (yueh ping) prepared
in the shape of the moon and filled with sesame seeds, ground
lotus seeds and duck eggs are served as a traditional delicacy.

The moon cakes will be available at Pearl from Aug. 18 through
Sept. 18.
