JOMBANG – Bhikkhu performing Thudong as part of the Indonesia Walk for Peace 2026 offered prayers during a visit to the tomb of the fourth President KH Abdurrahman Wahid, also known as Gus Dur, at the Tebuireng Islamic Boarding School in Jombang, East Java, on Tuesday, 19 May 2026. Fifty-seven monks from Thailand, Malaysia, Laos, and Indonesia taking part in Thudong visited Gus Dur’s tomb, revered as a figure of pluralism, before continuing their walk toward Nganjuk and Central Java to celebrate Vesak. During their visit, the monks offered prayers, and greeted local children at Tebuireng.
