Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), has assured that the 2026 mudik travel is safe and under control. According to him, this is due to continuous strengthening of cross-sectoral coordination. Monitoring encompasses all modes of transportation, from land, sea, air, to rail. In addition to receiving briefings from the Ministry of Transportation’s ranks, AHY also communicated directly with field officers via virtual connections in several regions. “Regarding land transportation, I communicated with colleagues in Aceh. For the sea sector with KSOP Batam, Riau Islands. Air sector with Juanda Airport in Surabaya, and rail with officers in Semarang,” said AHY in a written statement on Thursday (19/3/2026). This was stated during his direct monitoring of national transportation conditions from the Ministry of Transportation’s Command Center on Tuesday (17/3). Based on the monitoring, the implementation of transportation during the Lebaran mudik period is proceeding according to plan and remains under government control. “Overall, the mudik transportation implementation is running according to plan. Although there are dynamics in the field, the situation remains under control,” said AHY. He emphasised the government’s commitment to keeping the mudik flow safe, smooth, and secure for all citizens. “Our spirit to deliver a safe, smooth, and secure mudik flow must be continuously maintained,” he stated. In addition to ensuring the readiness of facilities and infrastructure, the government is also introducing various policies to ease travel costs for the public. These policies include a reduction in toll road tariffs of up to 30%, discounts on domestic economy class flight tickets of up to 18%, as well as price cuts on sea and rail tickets of up to 30%. He said his side will continue to strengthen coordination across ministries and agencies, while monitoring developments in the field to ensure the smooth flow of mudik until the Lebaran return. AHY also appreciated the media’s role in disseminating information to the public and opened space for input from various parties. “We request that input from the field be conveyed, so it can be considered in decision-making in certain situations,” he concluded.
