Monitoring Fuel Queues, Karangasem Regent Distributes Pertalite Coupons
Karangasem Regent I Gusti Putu Parwata (Gus Par) distributed free Pertalite coupons from a total allocation of 2,000 litres amid fuel queues at several petrol stations on Sunday (18 October 2026). The move came as the local government monitored fuel distribution and sought to ensure vehicle queues remained orderly.
Gus Par visited several petrol stations, including Ababi, Merita and Abiansoan, where he checked the queues and spoke with staff and members of the public. Queues were orderly, with an odd-even vehicle registration system in place.
“We are here in person to ensure services to the public run smoothly. We also urge people to remain calm and not to panic-buy, as fuel supplies continue to arrive and we are jointly overseeing distribution,” Gus Par said on Sunday (18 October 2026).
Of the 2,000-litre allocation, 100 coupons equivalent to 300 litres were distributed at Ababi petrol station, 200 coupons equivalent to 600 litres at Merita, and 134 coupons equivalent to 402 litres at Abiansoan. The remainder was distributed in rotation at other petrol stations across Karangasem.
Gus Par also used his personal funds to provide meal allowances to staff who had been on duty since the morning, and distributed mineral water and vitamins.
In the urban area, monitoring was led by Karangasem Regional Secretary I Ketut Sedana Merta. The inspection found that fuel stocks at several petrol stations were secure.
Sedana Merta and his team also distributed vitamins and mineral water to motorists and petrol-station staff. He asked all sub-district heads and members of the Sub-district Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimcam) to continue monitoring conditions in their areas and report developments in real time.
“The odd-even system has proved effective in reducing vehicle build-ups. Public-service vehicles and healthcare facilities continue to be given priority,” Sedana Merta said.
