Monitor registration delayed
JAKARTA: Following the delay in the announcement of the April 5 legislative election results, the General Elections Commission (KPU) has decided to put back the registration period for presidential election monitors.
KPU member Valina Singka Subekti, chairman of the committee registering election monitors, said the registration period would run from May 15 through June 15. Previously, registration was scheduled to take place from April 30 through May 15.
"June 15 will be the final date for presidential election monitors to register with us," she told The Jakarta Post on Tuesday.
The country will hold its first direct presidential election on July 5. -- JP
