Mongolian president in town for three-day visit

JAKARTA (JP): Visiting Mongolian President Punsalmagiin Ochirbat, who arrived here yesterday for a three day state visit, will meet President Soeharto today to discuss bilateral issues.

Ministers and entrepreneurs from the two countries will also hold talks on the sidelines for about 90 minutes, Minister/State Secretary Moerdiono said.

The Mongolian officials arrived at Soekarno-Hatta international airport at 6:20 p.m. on a Garuda Indonesia Airways flight from Beijing. He was greeted by Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs Ali Alatas.

Soeharto and Moerdiono greeted the guests at Wisma Negara guest house.

Ochirbat, who is accompanied by his wife Sharavyn Tsevelmaa and Mongolian Foreign Minister Shukeriin Altangerel, is scheduled to lay a wreath at Kalibata hero cemetery before meeting with President Soeharto.

Both presidents will witness Alatas and Tsevelmaa sign cooperation agreements on the promotion and protection of investment between the two countries.

The Mongolian president will attend a luncheon hosted by the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce at the Hilton hotel before the entourage visits Taman Mini Indonesian Indah.

Last night the state guests attended a function which Vice President Try Sutrisno and other high ranking Indonesian officials attended. The function started with an exchange of souvenirs and ended with a cultural show.

Ochirbat is scheduled to fly to Bali tomorrow where he will meet Bali governor Ida Bagus Oka in Grand Bali Beach Hotel, observe the famous Subak irrigation system and a wood craft exhibition.

He will leave for the famed holiday island tomorrow night for New Zealand. (pan)
