Bogor - The Fire Department (Damkar) has found the owner of money that was scattered on Jalan Tegar Beriman, Cibinong, Bogor Regency. The scattered Rp100,000 and Rp50,000 banknotes have been returned to their owner.

“Yes, the owner has been found. The owner came and the money has been handed over. That’s right, it was returned today, around 10 AM. The owner’s name is Miftah,” Bogor Fire Department Chief Yudi Santosa told detikcom on Sunday (2/15/2026).

Yudi said the scattered money, the total amount of which is unknown, was returned after ownership was verified. One method of verification was matching the vehicle registration certificate (STNK) found in the wallet with the motorcycle brought by the owner.

“We verified it through the name and photo. In the wallet, there was a photo, an STNK, and money. What confirmed it belonged to him was the motorcycle STNK. The STNK is in his parent’s name — the motorcycle was newly purchased at the end of 2025. He brought the motorcycle to the fire station, and it was matched with the STNK — it matched,” Yudi said.

“There was also a photo and a name indicator in the wallet. So in our assessment, it’s valid and confirmed,” he continued.

The viral scattered money on Jalan Tegar Beriman belonged to Miftah, who dropped it on his way home. The exact amount of money is not yet known.

“He was coming home from work — he had some kind of meeting with a client, but he didn’t specify what his job was or where. So that day he was on his way home, the money was in his wallet, he wasn’t carrying a bag, and the wallet fell out,” Yudi said.

“No, we didn’t press him with those questions. Also, we didn’t ask about the exact amount of money,” he added.

As previously reported, a video went viral on social media showing money scattered in the middle of Jalan Tegar Beriman, Cibinong Subdistrict, Bogor, West Java. The scattered money consisted of Rp100,000 and Rp50,000 banknotes.

In the circulating video from Saturday (2/14), several residents could be seen picking up and gathering the money on the road. Residents sounded confused as no one claimed ownership. They then handed the money to passing fire department officers.

When contacted separately, Bogor Fire Department Chief Yudi Santosa said the incident occurred at around 10:00 PM WIB on Friday (2/13). At the time, fire department personnel were returning to the station after conducting an evacuation.

“I’ve confirmed it — it wasn’t in the form of an official report. Last night around 10 PM, on the way back from an external evacuation activity, while passing through the BPBD area, there were people gathered,” Yudi told reporters.
