Monetary crisis

Monetary crisis

From Republika

I am very distressed by media reports on the economic crisis.
Many experts have spoken on the matter. So far, I have only heard
unconvincing opinions.

This country had fought for more than 350 years to gain
independence. Why cannot we unite to face the assault on the
rupiah?

Experts speak in a straightforward manner about what measures
must be taken to overcome the crisis. This crisis will be hard to
overcome if it is not faced with a high spirit of nationalism.

Why is there no spirit of patriotism? Why do we still act as
individuals only to save ourselves? Why don't we unite to fight
the crisis? If experts prefer to talk about their own concepts,
there will be no solution.

Members of the House of Representatives should take the
initiative to unite the nation's forces. We need to close our
ranks in face of this crisis.

I feel pity for the common people who know nothing but get the
brunt of the crisis. They do not know the meaning of "monetary",
they may not even know about the dollar.

I live in the small town of Bontang, East Kalimantan. I appeal
to the government and all experts in general and economic experts
in particular to sit together, to hold deliberations in order to
take united action to solve the current problems.

Do not make a habit of only expounding various theories in the
media because this will not solve the problems. Rather, this
tends to confuse the people.
