Jakarta — The Traffic Directorate (Ditlantas) of the Jakarta Metro Police opened four mobile Driving Licence (SIM) renewal service locations for residents wishing to extend the validity of their legal driving requirements across Jakarta on Monday.

The mobile SIM service provided by the Jakarta Metro Police Traffic Directorate is an initiative to facilitate citizens in renewing or completing one of the essential requirements for driving.

Via the X account @tmcpoldametro, the service was announced to operate from 08:00–14:00 WIB. The locations are as follows:

East Jakarta: Front lobby of Mall Grand Cakung

North Jakarta: Main lobby of LTC Glodok

South Jakarta: Side car park of Universitas Trilogi

West Jakarta: South lobby of Mall Ciputra

Central Jakarta: Car park area of Lapangan Banteng Post Office

Requirements include a valid photocopy of an identity card (KTP), the original and photocopied old driving licence, proof of health examination, and proof of psychological testing. The mobile SIM service can only renew valid driving licences for certain categories: SIM A and SIM C.

Driving licences are now valid for five years from the date of issue and no longer adjust to the owner’s date of birth. This policy ensures that the driving licence expiration date is determined based on the date of issuance, not the applicant’s birth date.

According to Government Regulation Number 76 of 2020 concerning Types and Rates of Non-Tax State Revenue (PNBP) applicable to the Indonesian National Police, renewal costs are 80,000 Indonesian Rupiah for SIM A and 75,000 Indonesian Rupiah for SIM C.

In addition to these fees, applicants must also pay additional costs, including psychological testing at 60,000 Indonesian Rupiah and health examination at 35,000 Indonesian Rupiah.

For reference, drivers who cannot present a valid driving licence will be subject to penalties under Article 288 paragraph 2 of Law Number 22 of 2009 concerning Traffic and Road Transport. The maximum penalty that can be imposed is imprisonment for up to one month or a fine of up to 250,000 Indonesian Rupiah.
