The National Monument (Monas) in Jakarta received a total of 2,837 visitors on the first Sunday of Ramadan, between 06:00 and 15:00 Western Indonesian Time (WIB).

“The total number of visits this Sunday from 06:00 to 15:00 WIB reached 2,837 people, comprising 2,153 adults, 457 children, and 227 foreign tourists,” said the Head of the Monas Area Management Unit (UPK), Muhammad Isa Sarnuri, when contacted in Jakarta on Sunday.

Isa detailed that the largest group of foreign tourists visiting Monas on the day came from China, numbering 110 people, followed by South Korea (26), the Netherlands (19), the United States (17), and Germany and Japan with 9 each.

The number of visitors on Sunday was not far off from Saturday (21 February), when Isa recorded more than 2,600 people visiting Monas.

The Monas management has kept visitor services open for those wishing to enjoy the monument grounds, museum, and observation deck during Ramadan, with adjusted operating hours.

From Tuesday to Sunday, the Monas tower is open from 08:00 to 15:00 WIB, while the surrounding grounds are accessible from 06:00 to 15:00 WIB. On Mondays, Monas is closed for maintenance.
