Monas-Ragunan Overrun! Pramono Claims Mudik to Jakarta a Major Success
A surge in tourist visits and public transport usage during the Eid al-Fitr holidays serves as an indicator of the success of the “Mudik to Jakarta” programme initiated by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government.
Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo stated that public enthusiasm for the programme is evident from increased activity at various destinations and public services.
“During the Eid al-Fitr period, the number of public visits to tourist destinations in Jakarta experienced a quite significant increase,” said Pramono in Jakarta on Wednesday (25/3).
He detailed that several flagship destinations recorded a surge in visitors. The Monas area was visited by 126,790 people from 22-24 March, while Ragunan Zoo recorded 222,991 visitors, and the Ancol tourist area reached around 155,000 visitors.
Not only in the tourism sector, but increases also occurred in public transport usage, especially during the free public transport programme on 21-22 March. Pramono mentioned that the number of MRT passengers reached 135,117 people, an increase of around 59 percent compared to the previous year.
“Meanwhile, LRT users were recorded at 9,987 passengers, an increase of around six percent compared to the previous year,” he said.
According to Pramono, these achievements show that the “Mudik to Jakarta” programme has received a positive response from the public.
“This shows that the Mudik to Jakarta programme has received a very good reception from the public,” he emphasised.
He added that the programme will continue until 31 March and involves various collaborators, from airlines, transport operators, to tourism industry players and shopping centres.
The programme carries the theme “Jakarta Lengang, Liburan dan Belanja Senang, Cuan Datang”. Pramono believes that even though many Jakarta residents are travelling home to their regions, the capital will remain bustling with tourists coming to enjoy the Eid holidays.
“This theme was chosen because we believe Jakarta remains alive and bustling, even though many residents are travelling home,” he concluded.
Pemudik are urged to take advantage of the WFA policy.
