Student protesters in the Monas area, outside IRTI, dispersed in an orderly manner.

Detikcom observed at the scene that the crowd began dispersing at 6.20pm local time on Tuesday (20 October 2026).

Before dispersing, the protesters had set fire to objects. Police then extinguished the flames. A brief argument broke out between police and protesters, but the situation soon returned to normal.

The protesters took a break when the call to prayer sounded. Afterwards, they formed a circle and sang “Buruh Tani Mahasiswa”.

At the centre of the circle was a bier covered with green cloth. They voiced their aspirations, then prayed and expressed hope for a more prosperous life for the public.

Meanwhile, traffic on Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan, which had been closed, has now reopened. Traffic is heavy.
