Momentum grows for establishing a Special Export Body; Rosan responds
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The administration of Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto is rumoured to form a Special Export Body for a number of commodities. However, its definitiveness remains unclear.
Rosan Roeslani, CEO of Danantara Indonesia and also the Minister of Investment and Downstream Development, declined to comment further on the issue. ‘Later. Just wait until tomorrow, tomorrow,’ Rosan said after meeting at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) offices on Tuesday, 19 May 2026.
Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa also said he did not know. He said the matter would be announced directly by President Prabowo Subianto.
‘Oh, I don't know, the President will announce it,’ Purbaya told reporters in his Jakarta office on Tuesday, 19 May 2026.
Likewise, the Director General of Minerals and Coal (Dirjen Minerba) at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources said he was not aware of the establishment. ‘I don't know. I don't know what the scheme would be,’ said Tri Winarno, the director-general, when met at the DPR building on Tuesday, 19 May 2026.
The issue of forming an export body has been widely discussed across different circles, including business players and economists. According to circulating rumours, the body would operate as a buyer for certain Indonesian-exported commodities before they are shipped to buyer countries.
However, it should be noted that the government has not provided detailed information about these rumours. It is believed the matter will be announced tomorrow directly by the president in a speech to the DPR delivering the Macro-Economic Framework and Main Policy of Fiscal Policy (KEMPPKF) for the 2027 State Budget (RAPBN 2027).
