Moments when a Mercedes-Benz stalls on Bogor railway crossing as residents rush to help save lives

BOGOR, KOMPAS.com - A silver Mercedes-Benz sedan suddenly stalled at a level crossing with barriers in Kebon Pedes, Bogor City, West Java.

From a video uploaded by the Instagram account @jabodetabek24info, the car is seen stationary on the crossing.

Several motorists hurriedly ran and attempted to push the car backwards until it finally cleared the tracks.

‘Tolongin itu tolongin,’ a woman filming the incident said.

From a check by Kompas.com, the silver sedan with registration B 1231 CHI had an engine problem that prevented it from moving forward or backward.

‘Sendirian, ibu-ibu. Enggak ada macet, mati-mati mesinnya kata ibu-ibu gitu. ’Udah bu jangan grogi’, akhirnya maksa mundurin,’ the crossing keeper, Lili (60), told Kompas.com at the scene on Thursday (5 March 2026).

She did not know how long the driver’s evacuation took.

Nevertheless, Lili was grateful to have helped save the life of the woman.

‘Bantu mundurin doang, ada kereta soalnya dari Jakarta ke Bogor yang penting mah selamat,’ she said.

‘We saved a life as we moved it back; there was a train nearby from Jakarta to Bogor, and the important thing was that everyone was safe. I just helped as well,’ she added.

There were no fatalities in the incident on Thursday morning (5 March 2026). Nearby residents helped with the rescue.

‘Tidak ada (korban jiwa), hanya mogok berhasil didorong masyarakat,’ Doddy said when contacted.
