Moments of Smoke from Passenger's Bag Trigger Panic on Rawa Buntu Commuter Line

Panic broke out inside a women-only carriage of the Commuter Line (KRL) that arrived at Rawa Buntu Station, Serpong, South Tangerang, on Thursday morning.

Smoke was observed emerging from inside a female passenger’s bag. KRL security personnel subsequently secured the bag to prevent any potential fire from spreading and to manage the growing panic.

While circulating reports suggested an explosion had occurred within the carriage, the police have confirmed that no explosion took place during the incident. Aipda Herry from the Rawa Buntu Binmas, Serpong Police, stated that the smoke originated from two mobile phones located inside the passenger’s bag.
