Moments of a deadly crash on the Cipularang Toll Road! 10 vehicles involved, 2 people killed

Purwakarta, VIVA – A multi-vehicle crash involving 10 vehicles occurred at KM 93 of the Cipularang Toll Road in the Jakarta-bound direction on Thursday evening, 5 March 2026. The incident temporarily rendered all toll road lanes impassable and sparked panic among road users.

According to initial reports from on-site officers, two people were reported dead in the incident. In addition, four others sustained serious injuries and were immediately transported to hospital for medical treatment.

Head of Marketing and Communications Department Jasamarga Metropolitan Tollroad Regional Division, Panji Satriya, said the crash occurred around 20:18 WIB and was being dealt with by officers together with the police.

“Involving 10 vehicles and causing all lanes to be impassable. It is still being handled by on-site officers,” Panji said.

All victims affected by the crash had been evacuated to the nearest health facilities for further care.

“All victims have been evacuated to Radjak Hospital in Purwakarta for further treatment,” he said.

Officers from Representative Office 3 Jasamarga Metropolitan Tollroad (JMT) were deployed to the scene. They are working with other relevant parties to speed up the evacuation of victims and vehicles involved in the crash.

As a result of the incident, traffic was completely paralyzed for a time. However, after handling, traffic began to reopen gradually.

At 20:59 WIB, one lane could be passed. Then around 21:43 WIB, two lanes were passable again for road users.

Jasa Marga apologised to the public for the traffic disruption during the evacuation process. Until now, the exact cause of the multi-vehicle crash is still being investigated by the police.
