Moments Before Chicken Thief in Tabanan Dies After Being Mobbed

A man with the initials KD died after being mobbed when he was caught red-handed stealing chickens in Banjar Dinas Juwuk Legi, Batunya Village, Baturiti District, Tabanan Regency, Bali. The theft of the fighting cocks occurred on Friday (24/7/2026) at around 01.30 Wita. KD was caught in the act while attempting to steal chickens belonging to a local resident, I Wayan Adi Suteja. KD became the target of the mob’s fury as he tried to flee. In addition to assaulting the perpetrator, enraged residents also set fire to KD’s motorcycle until it was completely destroyed. “Residents were emotional because of the rampant cases of chicken theft in the area, so they mobbed the suspected perpetrator until he died at the scene,” said Tabanan Police Public Relations Head, First Inspector Ni Luh Putu Wiwik Endrayani, on Saturday (25/7/2026). Police officers who received the report immediately moved to the location and arrived at around 02.00 Wita. However, when officers arrived, KD’s condition was already beyond help and he was pronounced dead. The body of KD was then evacuated and taken to the hospital. The arrival of KD’s body at the funeral home in Sidatapa Village, Banjar District, Buleleng Regency, was met with deep sorrow. His youngest child was hysterical and cried continuously upon seeing the father’s body. Sidatapa Village Head, I Made Sutama, said he shared the profound grief felt by the deceased’s family. KD leaves behind a wife and three children.
