Moment When Two Prabowo Ministers Fall Silent as Electricity Suddenly Goes Out - detikFinance
Parts of Jakarta experienced a power outage this afternoon. The blackout temporarily disrupted a press conference underway at the Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming/BKPM office in South Jakarta.
The press conference concerned the realisation of investments in the first quarter of 2026 and the implementation of the Indonesian Standard Business Field Classification (KBLI), attended by Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto, Investment Minister/Head of BKPM Rosan Roeslani, and Head of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti.
Initially, the event proceeded smoothly. Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto delivered opening remarks on Indonesia’s economic fundamentals, which are still considered stable. This was followed by Investment Minister/Head of BKPM Rosan Roeslani presenting the achievements in investment realisation for the first quarter of 2026.
The lights suddenly went out while BPS Head Amalia was presenting on the implementation of KBLI 2025. As a result, the room was dark and silent for a few seconds.
BPS Head Amalia paused her presentation and smiled. Shortly afterwards, the room lit up again, and the press conference continued.
It is known that the power outage was caused by a disruption in the electricity supply. Currently, PT PLN (Persero) is carrying out gradual restoration of the electrical system, both through control systems and direct handling in the field.
“Gradually, the process of normalising electricity supply is being carried out by PLN both in the control system and in the field, since the disruption first occurred. Our technical team is currently conducting intensive handling to restore the entire electrical system,” said Senior Manager of Communication and Public Relations at PLN’s Jakarta Raya Distribution Main Unit, Haris Andika, in a written statement on Thursday (23/4/2026).
In line with the gradual repairs, PLN is also tracing the source of the disruption that occurred.
