Moment When Social Minister and Deputy Arrive at President's Briefing in Electric Car

Social Minister Saifullah Yusuf, or Gus Ipul, and Deputy Social Minister Agus Jabo Priyono attended President Prabowo’s briefing at the State Palace today. The pair arrived together in an electric car.

The use of this environmentally friendly vehicle is part of the Ministry of Social Affairs’ efforts to support the transition to clean energy, as well as a trial of new operational vehicles in line with the President’s directives.

Gus Ipul explained that the electric car is currently being trialled for the Ministry’s operational activities, including the People’s School programme.

“We are trialling this with Mr Deputy Minister using the electric operational vehicle for the People’s School,” said Gus Ipul in a written statement on Wednesday (8/4/2026).

Gus Ipul assured that the vehicle would be used routinely for activities within the city.

“Insyaallah, for intra-city use, we will continue to employ it going forward,” he stated.

Regarding the potential procurement or distribution of electric vehicles to regions, Gus Ipul said that the Ministry is still studying the infrastructure readiness.

“We are still calculating the readiness of the supporting ecosystem for using electric cars in the People’s School,” he added.

The government itself has begun implementing Work Culture Transformation and the Energy Saving Movement as strategic steps to encourage changes in work patterns to be more efficient, productive, and prudent in energy use. This initiative is being applied nationally starting 1 April 2026.

“This electric car is part of the transformation towards a new work culture that is more modern and sustainable,” Gus Ipul concluded.
