Moment Prabowo Removes Safari Suit and Tosses it to Labour Crowd at Monas

The moment occurred as Prabowo directly attended the Labour Day action at Monas, Central Jakarta, on Friday (1/5/2026). Prabowo greeted the workers from the stage after delivering his speech. Prabowo then appeared to spontaneously remove the safari suit he was wearing in front of the labour crowd filling the area around the stage. He subsequently threw his suit to the crowd. Prabowo was seen wearing a black T-shirt. He then continued to greet and shake hands with the workers below the stage. While shaking hands with the workers, Prabowo walked towards his vehicle. He and his entourage then left the action area at Monas. It is known that in his speech, Prabowo announced to the workers. Prabowo stated that he had signed a presidential regulation ratifying International Labour Organization (ILO) Convention No. 188 to ensure the protection and welfare of fishermen. “Brothers and sisters, there is another gift for the workers. I have just signed Presidential Regulation No. 25 of 2026 on the ratification of International Labour Organization Convention No. 188 to ensure protection and welfare for fishery vessel crews,” said Prabowo. In addition, Prabowo stated that the government this year will inaugurate 1,386 fishing villages. The inauguration of these fishing villages will continue in subsequent years. “For the first time in the history of the Republic of Indonesia, fishermen are being taken care of. Next year we will open 1,500 fishing villages, the year after that 1,500, the year after that 1,500. In total, there will be approximately six million fishermen whose lives we will improve, along with their children and wives, more than 20 million Indonesian people will have better lives, prosperous lives. Those who have been struggling, going to sea without ice—now we will build ice factories in every fishing village. We will also help provide vessels for them,” said Prabowo.
