Moment Prabowo Holds Hands with Megawati During Meeting at the Palace

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - A moment of closeness was evident when President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto received the arrival of the 5th President of the Republic of Indonesia and General Chair (Ketum) of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) Megawati Soekarnoputri at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, on Thursday afternoon (19/3/2026). The moment of familiarity was clearly visible when Prabowo held hands with Megawati upon entering the Merdeka Palace. Prabowo also uploaded this meeting moment on his personal Instagram account, @prabowo, that afternoon. Megawati’s arrival was directly greeted by Prabowo and his son, Didit Prabowo. In several moments, Prabowo also held hands with Megawati to assist her in going up and down the stairs to the meeting room. This meeting was also attended by several figures, including the Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives (DPR RI) and Daily Chairman of the Gerindra Party, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad. Through his Instagram account, Prabowo stated that this meeting with Megawati was an occasion for rapport among national leaders. “On the 29th day of the month of Ramadan ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1447 H, I received the 5th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Mrs Hj. Megawati Soekarnoputri, at the Merdeka Palace,” said Prabowo in his post. “This meeting continues the rapport among national leaders,” Prabowo continued.
