Mojtaba Khamenei Sends Stern Warning to Trump Over Death Claims

Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has sent a stern warning to the United States after former President Donald Trump claimed he had died. Khamenei accused Washington of repeatedly violating a memorandum of understanding between the two nations and stated that the US and its regional allies would suffer an ‘unforgettable lesson’.

Trump had previously asserted that Khamenei was likely dead, telling Fox News that Iran’s leaders had been wiped out. He mistakenly referred to the late Ayatollah Ali Khamenei as ‘Khomeini’ and claimed his son, Mojtaba, was ‘90 percent gone’. The speculation arose after Mojtaba Khamenei had not been seen in public for months, including his absence from his father’s funeral on 9 July 2026. He survived the US-Israeli airstrike that killed his father because he was in a different room at the residence, though US intelligence believed he was severely wounded.

In a written statement broadcast on Iranian state television, Khamenei declared that Trump’s signature was ‘completely worthless and illegitimate’ due to Washington’s repeated violations of the agreement. ‘The Great Satan’s repeated violations of the deal have once again proven to everyone that the signature of the American president is now completely worthless and illegitimate, and that bullying, hegemony, and savagery are inseparable components of America’s creed and doctrine,’ the statement read. He further warned, ‘Now that the American enemy seeks to provoke a war and suffer heavier costs and further humiliation, they must know that the beloved Iranian nation and the Resistance Front have an unforgettable lesson in store for them.’ The exchange comes amid a week of mutual attacks, with the US targeting civilian infrastructure in Iran and Tehran responding with strikes on civilian infrastructure in Kuwait and a US base in Jordan.
