Mohamed Salah to return for Liverpool against Aston Villa
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Liverpool manager Arne Slot has confirmed that his star player Mohamed Salah will return to play when they face Aston Villa at Villa Park on Saturday (16/5) early morning WIB, in the continuation of the 2025/2026 Premier League.
The Egyptian striker previously missed two of The Reds’ Premier League matches due to a muscle injury he sustained against Crystal Palace on April 25 at Anfield, Liverpool.
“Mo (Mohamed Salah) will be available,” said Slot, quoted from the official Liverpool website, Friday.
However, this does not mean that Salah will start the game. Slot said the Egyptian player is likely to play for “a few minutes”.
The confirmation of Salah’s return is good news for Liverpool fans, as they will see the last actions of the 33-year-old striker who is ending his time with The Reds this season.
During his nine years at Liverpool, Salah has made 440 appearances in all competitions, scoring 257 goals and 122 assists, and winning many prestigious trophies, including two Premier League titles and one Champions League.
This season, Salah has not been as good as in previous seasons, although he still contributed double-digit goals (goals/assists), namely 12 goals and nine assists.
Meanwhile, at the same time, Slot said Ibrahima Konate is fit after the French defender was substituted in the second half in the last match against Chelsea which ended 1-1.
Liverpool may also be strengthened by their number one goalkeeper, Alisson Becker, who has returned to training after an injury in mid-March.
Alisson’s condition will continue to be monitored, as will Florian Wirtz who has a stomach infection, which caused him to miss the last match against The Blues at Anfield.
“He (Wirtz) is taking antibiotics,” said Slot.
Both teams are currently in fourth and fifth place with 59 points. A win over Aston Villa will ensure Liverpool’s ticket to play in the Champions League next season.
