PT Pertamina Patra Niaga is providing modular fuel stations (SPBU) during the Eid al-Fitr homecoming and return traffic in 2026. These stations are prepared to handle the spike in demand for petroleum fuel (BBM). Modular SPBU are mini, mobile, compact, and relocatable stations. They are positioned at strategic locations to alleviate congestion at regular SPBU. Additionally, modular SPBU are also provided at rest areas that do not yet have fuel filling facilities. One of them is Rest Area KM 695 A. Area Manager for Communication, Relations, and CSR of East Java, Bali, and Nusa Tenggara at Pertamina Patra Niaga, Ahad Rahedi, stated that during the 2026 Eid homecoming period, Pertamina is allocating modular SPBU with a fuel capacity of 12,000 litres and providing Pertamax and Pertamina Dex fuels. “Specifically for modular SPBU like this, we see that not all rest areas on the Trans Java route have SPBU. Our alternative is prepared for the public travelling long distances with private vehicles,” he explained during the Exploring Mudik Power Lunch CNBC Indonesia on Wednesday (1/4/2026). He mentioned that Pertamina is monitoring the availability of fuel at each modular SPBU in the rest areas at least every eight hours. Pertamina is also monitoring vehicles using the modular SPBU facilities to prevent congestion in the rest areas. “Not all rest areas have SPBU. Our goal is to break up congestion in each rest area because the public usually stops at rest areas to refuel their vehicles as well. The aim is to disperse the concentration at rest areas that have SPBU so that it doesn’t pile up at one point, leading to congestion and overload,” Ahad clarified. One of the homecomers utilising the modular SPBU, Widi, admitted that this facility helps mudik participants. The presence of modular SPBU means vehicle users do not have to queue to refuel. “It’s faster and no queuing. Here, there’s usually just Pertamax. There’s Pertamax Turbo, but not here yet,” he explained. For information, Pertamina is preparing around 96 modular service units. At critical points like Rest Area KM 57 on the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road, two modular SPBU units are prepared, each with a capacity of 3,000 litres, to anticipate the surge in fuel consumption during the homecoming period.
