Modi Advises Putin on Methods to End War

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has told Russian President Vladimir Putin that dialogue and diplomacy remain the only way to resolve conflicts, amidst the ongoing wars in Ukraine and the Middle East.

Modi held talks with Putin in New Delhi on Friday (11/9), on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit scheduled to take place this weekend.

The Indian Prime Minister engaged in extensive discussions with President Putin regarding various aspects of the Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership between India and Russia, according to Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal via the social media platform X.

According to Jaiswal, both leaders reviewed developments in bilateral cooperation across various sectors, including trade, energy, defence, space, and people-to-people ties, which remain a primary focus of the long-standing India-Russia partnership.

Jaiswal stated that the two leaders also exchanged views on various issues of mutual interest at regional and global levels, including conflicts in the Middle East and the Black Sea region.

“The Prime Minister reaffirmed that dialogue and diplomacy remain the way forward in resolving conflicts, and India is ready to assist in peace efforts,” said Jaiswal.

Putin arrived in the Indian capital on Friday morning local time and is scheduled to hold several meetings during the summit.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov added that European nations are mistaken if they believe Russia should be confronted from a position of strength.

In a separate development, Russian President Vladimir Putin is scheduled to meet with President Prabowo Subianto on Monday (13/4) to discuss the strategic partnership between Indonesia and Russia.
