Modern LNG Fleet Strengthens National Energy Distribution
Energy distribution is a crucial factor in maintaining national energy resilience, particularly amidst the growing demand for liquefied natural gas (LNG) across various sectors. Consequently, strengthening the modern energy logistics fleet is deemed a strategic step to ensure LNG supplies can reach all regions of Indonesia reliably and efficiently. This commitment was demonstrated by PT GTS Internasional Tbk (GTSI) through its successful bid to serve domestic LNG transportation under a Time Charter Party for Tangguh Domestic LNG Tanker. This partnership represents a significant step in strengthening national energy distribution through the utilisation of the Danaputri 1 LNG Carrier. The vessel, acquired in October 2025, is now GTSI’s new mainstay in supporting LNG shipments from the Tangguh LNG Terminal in Bintuni Bay, Papua, to various domestic terminals across Indonesia. GTSI Chief Operating Officer Ricki stated that the trust placed in the company marks an important momentum to strengthen GTSI’s position in the national energy logistics sector while accelerating business development. “This opportunity is a crucial moment for GTSI’s business acceleration. The combination of a large-capacity asset and long-term contract support provides a strong foundation for company growth while creating added value for shareholders,” he said. According to Ricki, the partnership also reflects the confidence of global energy companies in GTSI’s operational capabilities and service standards in supporting energy distribution. With an LNG transport capacity of 145,000 cubic metres, the Danaputri 1 can improve the efficiency of LNG distribution while strengthening connectivity between the liquefied natural gas production centre in Papua and various energy-consuming regions in Indonesia. The presence of this fleet is expected to support a smoother national LNG supply chain, which is increasingly important for meeting domestic energy needs. Beyond improving logistics efficiency, more reliable distribution also plays a role in maintaining the stability of energy supplies in various regions. The company assesses that the partnership will strengthen GTSI’s business portfolio in the energy logistics sector, while supporting the achievement of the company’s long-term vision as a competitive energy transportation service provider. By strengthening its fleet and expanding LNG distribution services, GTSI hopes to continue contributing to national energy resilience. Amidst the rising demand for clean and efficient energy, LNG maritime logistics is considered to have an increasingly strategic role in ensuring energy availability for communities and industries throughout Indonesia. This partnership also serves as evidence that reinforcing energy logistics infrastructure not only impacts company business growth but also supports efforts to sustainably maintain national energy supply security.
