“Wave heights can change at any time,” wrote BMKG Yogyakarta Meteorological Station in its information.
To prevent accidents in the maritime areas and along the southern coast of DIY, BMKG has included several important advisories for maritime service users and tourists.
For shipping activities, BMKG urges fishermen, barge or ferry operators, and small vessel operators to increase vigilance and to avoid sailing unless absolutely necessary.
Meanwhile, members of the public and tourists are asked to avoid swimming, fishing or water sports that could endanger safety in the southern waters of DIY.
“Always comply with the instructions of the local authorised officers,” wrote BMKG.
