Moderate quake hits Papua

JAKARTA: A moderate earthquake measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale
struck Indonesia's easternmost province of Papua on Thursday, the
Meteorology and Geophysics Office here said.

The quake struck at 5:35 a.m. with an epicenter 33 kilometers
under the bed of the Pacific Ocean some 843 kilometers north of
the town of Manokwari, Subagyo from the office here told AFP.

The quake was felt moderately in Manokwari but there were no
immediate reports of any damage, Subagyo said. -- AFP
