Mochtar Lubis sued

In relation to Mochtar Lubis' demand for an open debate, I'd like to make it clear that I am not interested in such a debate. Instead, I will sue him for his crime of insulting and reprimanding the first President of the Republic of Indonesia, Dr. Sukarno.

The court can also be an open forum for debates.

I am suing him not only because of the fact that I am Sukarno's daughter, but as a citizen, I cannot keep silent, and am determined to react to his abusive act. I strongly believe that my move is just and lawful. That Mochtar Lubis has accused Bung Karno of being involved in the G-30-S/PKI coup attempt is a violation to the principle of "assumption of innocence."

I appreciate the positive response of the Police Chief to my legal claim. But I still give Mochtar Lubis the chance to withdraw his statement and make an apology to the Indonesian people within seven days of this letter being sent (Oct. 24, 1994).

If that time limit is ignored I will proceed to take the case to court and sue him.
