Mobile SIM service available at five Jakarta locations on Friday

The Traffic Directorate (Ditlantas) of the Metro Jaya Police has opened five mobile SIM (driving licence) service locations for residents wishing to renew the validity period of their legal driving documents in the Jakarta area on Friday. The mobile SIM service provided by Ditlantas Polda Metro Jaya is an effort to make it easier for the public to manage or complete one of their driving requirements. According to information from the @tmcpoldametro X account, the service is open from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. WIB. The locations are: East Jakarta: Front lobby of Grand Cakung Mall; North Jakarta: Main lobby of LTC Glodok Mall; South Jakarta: Parking area next to Trilogi University; West Jakarta: South lobby of Ciputra Mall; Central Jakarta: Parking area of the Lapangan Banteng Post Office. Requirements include a photocopy of a valid ID card (KTP), the original physical SIM and a photocopy, proof of a health check, and proof of a psychological test. This mobile SIM car service can only renew SIM A and SIM C licences that are still valid. Holders of SIMs whose validity period has expired must apply for a new SIM at the Satpas SIM Daan Mogot in West Jakarta. The validity period of a SIM is now calculated as five years from the date of issuance and no longer adjusts to the holder’s date of birth. This policy ensures that the expiry date is determined by the time of issuance, not the applicant’s birth date. The renewal fee, according to Government Regulation No. 76 of 2020 on Non-Tax State Revenue Types and Rates applicable to the National Police, is Rp80,000 for a SIM A renewal and Rp75,000 for a SIM C renewal. In addition to these fees, applicants must also pay additional costs, including Rp100,000 for a psychological test and Rp50,000 for a health test. For information, drivers who fail to present a valid driving licence are subject to sanctions under Article 288 paragraph 2 of Law No. 22 of 2009 on Road Traffic and Transportation. The maximum penalty is imprisonment for up to one month or a fine of up to Rp250,000.
