Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Minister of Communication and Digital, Meutya Hafid, stated that the government has provided a deadline of 28 September 2026 for mobile operators to comply with the Constitutional Court (MK) ruling concerning the accumulation of internet quotas.

“In principle, from the beginning, we have provided direction to mobile operators to participate in and orderly follow the MK decision,” Meutlag said during a working meeting with Commission I of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) in the Senayan Complex, Jakarta, on Tuesday.

Previously, Meutya issued a specific Circular Letter for mobile operators to ensure compliance with the Constitutional Court’s decision regarding internet quotas.

Nevertheless, she mentioned that her office is still receiving several complaints from the public, indicating that these provisions have not yet been fully implemented by mobile operators.

Meutya expressed hope that mobile operators would meet these requirements and submit compliance reports to the Ministry of Communication and Digital before the established deadline.

“Hopefully, within less than one month, operators can report to the Ministry regarding their compliance with the MK decision,” she said.

Previously, the Constitutional Court (MK) partially granted a judicial review petition regarding the expiration of internet quotas, mandating the provision of service options that guarantee a user’s remaining quota remains active and usable.

The MK ruling stipulates that telecommunications providers are obliged to provide service options that ensure remaining user quotas remain active and accessible.

According to the ruling, telecommunications service users with remaining quotas must receive legal protection for that right, applicable to both prepaid and postpaid services.

The MK noted that such protection can be realised through various service options, such as quota accumulation or rollover, extension of active periods, benefit transfers, compensation, refunds, or other mechanisms.
