Mobile driving licence services available at five Jakarta locations on Tuesday

Jakarta (ANTARA) — The Traffic Directorate of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police is opening its mobile driving licence (SIM Keliling) service at five locations in Jakarta on Tuesday for residents wishing to extend the validity of the legal driving requirement.

Through its Instagram account @tmcpoldametro, it was announced that the service will operate from 08.00 to 14.00 WIB at the following locations:

East Jakarta: Front lobby of Grand Cakung Mall

North Jakarta: Main lobby of LTC Glodok

South Jakarta: Car park area beside Trilogi University

West Jakarta: South lobby of Ciputra Mall

Central Jakarta: Car park of the Lapangan Banteng Post Office

The mobile licence outlet only serves renewals of licences that are still valid for certain categories, namely SIM A (car) and SIM C (motorcycle). If the licence has already expired, the holder must apply for a new licence at the SIM Satpas office in Daan Mogot, West Jakarta.

Licences are now valid for five years from the date of issue and no longer follow the holder’s date of birth.

Regarding renewal fees, under Government Regulation (PP) Number 76 of 2020 on the Types and Tariffs of Non-Tax State Revenue (PNBP) applicable to the National Police, the fee is Rp80,000 for SIM A and Rp75,000 for SIM C.

In addition to these fees, applicants must also pay additional charges for a psychological test of Rp100,000 and a health test of Rp50,000.

For information, drivers who cannot produce a valid licence face sanctions under Article 288, paragraph 2, of Law Number 22 of 2009 on Road Traffic and Transport, namely a maximum penalty of one month’s imprisonment or a fine of up to Rp250,000.
