Jakarta – Metro Police have opened two mobile driving licence (Surat Izin Mengemudi/SIM) service centres for the public across Jakarta regions on Sunday. The mobile SIM service provided by the Metro Police Traffic Directorate (Ditlantas) represents an effort to facilitate citizens in obtaining or completing this essential driving requirement.

Through the X account @tmcpoldametro, it was announced that the service operates from 07:00–12:00 WIB.

The locations are as follows:

East Jakarta: Jalan Raden Mas Intan (beside McDonald’s, Duren Sawit)

West Jakarta: Jalan Panjang (beside Indomaret, Kebon Jeruk)

Required documents include a photocopied valid identity card (KTP), the old physical SIM and its photocopy, proof of health check, and proof of psychological assessment.

The mobile SIM service can only renew valid driving licences for certain categories—namely SIM A and SIM C. Those whose SIM validity has expired must apply for a new SIM at the SIM Testing Centre (Satpas) at Daan Mogot, West Jakarta.

Driving licence validity is now calculated as five years from the date of issuance and no longer adjusts to the owner’s date of birth. This policy ensures that the SIM expiry date is determined based on the issuance date, not the applicant’s date of birth.

Regarding renewal fees, in accordance with Government Regulation No. 76 of 2020 concerning the Types and Tariffs of State Revenue (PNBP) applicable to the National Police, the fees are Rp80,000 for SIM A renewal and Rp75,000 for SIM C renewal.

Beyond these base fees, applicants must also pay additional charges, including Rp60,000 for psychological testing and Rp35,000 for health examination.

Drivers unable to produce a valid SIM will face penalties in accordance with Article 288(2) of Law No. 22 of 2009 concerning Traffic and Road Transport. Maximum penalties include imprisonment for up to one month or a fine of up to Rp250,000.
