Mobile Driver's License Services Available at Five Locations in Jakarta this Thursday
The Jakarta Metropolitan Police Traffic Directorate (Ditlantas Polda Metro Jaya) has opened five mobile driver’s licence (SIM) service locations for members of the public wishing to extend their driving permits in the Jakarta area this Thursday.
The mobile SIM service provided by Ditlantas Polda Metro Jaya is an effort to facilitate the public in managing or completing essential driving documentation.
According to the @tmcpoldametro Instagram account, the service is open from 08:00 to 14:00 WIB.
The locations are as follows:
East Jakarta: Front lobby of Mal Grand Cakung
North Jakarta: Main lobby of LTC Glodok
South Jakarta: Parking area beside Trilogi University
West Jakarta: South lobby of Ciputra Mall
Central Jakarta: Parking area of the Lapangan Banteng Post Office
The requirements include a photocopy of a valid ID card (KTP), the physical original licence and a photocopy, proof of a health check, and proof of a psychological test.
This mobile SIM service can only be used to extend currently valid licences for specific categories, namely SIM A (cars) and SIM C (motorcycles).
The service only handles the renewal of valid SIM A and SIM C licences; holders of expired licences must apply for a new licence at the Daan Mogok SIM Satpas in West Jakarta.
The validity period of a SIM is now calculated for five years from the date of issuance and no longer aligns with the owner’s date of birth. This policy ensures that the expiry date is determined by the time of issuance rather than the applicant’s birth date.
Regarding renewal fees, in accordance with Government Regulation Number 76 of 2020 concerning the Types and Tariffs of Non-Tax State Revenue (PNBP) applicable to the National Police, the cost is IDR 80,000 for SIM A renewals and IDR 75,000 for SIM C renewals. In addition to these fees, applicants must also pay for a psychological test at IDR 100,000 and a health check at IDR 50,000.
As a reminder, motorists who are unable to produce a valid driving licence will face sanctions in accordance with Article 288, paragraph 2 of Law Number 22 of 2009 concerning Traffic and Road Transport. The maximum penalty is imprisonment for up to one month or a fine of up to IDR 250,000.
