Mobile Driver's Licence Services Available at Five Locations in Jakarta this Friday
The Jakarta Metropolitan Police Traffic Directorate (Ditlantas Polda Metro Jaya) has opened five mobile driver’s licence (SIM) service locations for members of the public wishing to extend their driving permits across the Jakarta region this Friday.
The mobile SIM service provided by Ditlantas Polda Metro Jaya is an effort to facilitate the public in managing or completing essential driving documentation.
According to the @tmcpoldametro Instagram account, the service is open from 08:00 to 14:00 WIB. The available locations are as follows:
East Jakarta: Front lobby of Mal Grand Cakung
North Jakarta: Main lobby of LTC Glodok
South Jakarta: Parking area beside Trilogi University
West Jakarta: South lobby of Ciputra Mall
Central Jakarta: Parking area of the Lapangan Banteng Post Office
The requirements include a photocopy of a valid National Identity Card (KTP), the physical original SIM and a photocopy, proof of a health check, and proof of a psychological test.
The mobile SIM vehicle service can only extend valid licences for specific categories, namely SIM A (cars) and SIM C (motorcycles). This service only handles renewals for currently valid licences; holders of expired licences must apply for a new licence at the Satpas SIM Daan Mogot in West Jakarta.
Licence validity is now calculated for five years from the date of issuance and no longer aligns with the owner’s date of birth. This policy ensures that the expiry date is determined by the time of issuance rather than the applicant’s birthday.
Regarding renewal fees, in accordance with Government Regulation Number 76 of 2020 concerning the Types and Tariffs of Non-Tax State Revenue (PNBP) applicable to the National Police, the cost is Rp80,000 for SIM A renewals and Rp75,000 for SIM C renewals. In addition to these fees, applicants must also pay for a psychological test at Rp100,000 and a health check at Rp50,000.
As a reminder, motorists who are unable to produce a valid driving licence will face sanctions under Article 288, paragraph 2 of Law Number 22 of 2009 concerning Traffic and Road Transport. The maximum penalty includes imprisonment for up to one month or a fine of up to Rp250,000.
