Mobile Brigade members sent to Aceh

KUPANG, East Nusa Tenggara: About 140 Mobile Brigade (Brimob) police personnel left here for Aceh on Tuesday to take part in the military operation against separatist rebels.

The reinforcement officers were seen off by East Nusa Tenggara Police chief Brig. Gen. Yacobus Jacki Uly in a ceremony attended by Governor Piet A. Tallo.

Jacki Uli said the Mobile Brigade officers were being sent to Aceh to assist in the ongoing military operations in Aceh.

"I hope the Brimob members will maintain their professionalism in carrying out their duties in Aceh. Alertness against their enemies should be their main concern in the conflict-wracked region," he said.

During the ceremony, the governor presented tasbih (a string of 100 beads) to Muslim officers and Rosaries to Catholic officers. --JP
