Mob razes Islamic boarding school

INDONESIA: Hundreds of people stormed an Islamic boarding school in Tulungagung, East Java, on Monday night.

An angry mob leveled the building to the ground after hearing reports that the school principal, Mus, 53, had sexual relations with four of his female students, and that one of them had given birth to his baby. No injuries were reported in the incident.

Tulungagung Police chief of detectives Adj. Comr. Supardi Astiko said on Saturday that he had deployed 100 police personnel to prevent the dispute from escalating.

The incident began when a female student gave birth to a baby at the boarding school's dormitory on Friday afternoon.

Other students questioned her over who had fathered the baby, and the student pointed to Mus. Having broken the silence, three other female students emerged and revealed that they had also had sexual relations with Mus.

The story then spread quickly, sparking the anger of local residents. The principal is being questioned by the police. -- Antara
