Mob burns meat factory in Bandung

BANDUNG: A mob of around 250 people from Sri Rahayu village in Cikancung subdistrict, Bandung, attacked and burned a house and a warehouse owned by private meat factory PT Dilamo whom residents accused of selling rotten beef.

In the attack on Saturday evening, the mob also set fire to seven cars and four motorcycles parked at the factory owned by H. Hadi, 45, and Djoni, 39.

The incident shocked local officials as the village was a calm and peaceful one, they said.

"We were surprised after receiving a report from local community members about the incident. But after we came to the scene, everything had been burned down without any effort to prevent it," Andang, an official at the Cikuncung subdistrict office, said. --Antara
