MKY to reclaim Jakarta shore

JAKARTA (JP): PT Manggala Krida Yuda (MKY) is to reclaim 500
hectares of Jakarta's northern shoreline, according to a press
report.

On Monday a cooperation agreement on the shore reclamation
project, in east Ancol, was signed by Siti Hutami Endang
Adiningsih, the company's chief commissioner, and Suntoro, chief
commissioner of state-owned PT Pelabuhan Indonesia II, the Bisnis
Indonesia daily reported.

Adiningsih is President Soeharto's youngest daughter.

Under the agreement, MKY will dredge the coast off Ancol beach
in North Jakarta to fill the shoreline at East Ancol.

According to the report, MKY will reclaim a total of 500
hectares but will hand over 125 hectares of that area to PT
Pelabuhan Indonesia II for the expansion of Jakarta's Tanjung
Priok port.

The remaining 375 hectares of reclaimed land will be developed
for business, services, commercial, recreational and housing
purposes, the daily said, but did not reveal the amount of money
to be invested in the project. (hhr)
