MKGR to Hold Extraordinary Congress, Wihaji Emerges as Candidate to Replace Adies Kadir
One of the founding mass organisations of the Golkar Party, the Musyawarah Kekeluargaan Gotong Royong (MKGR), is set to hold an Extraordinary Grand Assembly (Mubeslub) to elect a new chairman to replace Adies Kadir, who resigned to become a judge at the Constitutional Court (MK). The name of Golkar Vice Chairman Wihaji has emerged as a candidate for the new MKGR chairman.
The Mubeslub is scheduled to take place on 11 July 2026 in Jakarta. Golkar Party Chairman Bahlil Lahadalia is expected to attend the event.
“The Mubeslub will open on 11 July in Jakarta and, God willing, will also be attended by Mr Bahlil as the General Chairman of the Golkar Party,” said Acting MKGR Chairman Maman Abdurrahman during a press conference in Bendungan Hilir, Jakarta, on Monday (6/7/2026).
Maman was accompanied by MKGR Secretary General Soedeson Tandra, Organising Committee Chair Dyah Roro Esti, Executive Committee Chair Abraham Sridjaja, and Steering Committee Chair Alien Mus. Maman stated that he wants to ensure the transition process for the MKGR chairman runs smoothly.
“The agenda for the 2026 Mubeslub is to accept Mr Adies Kadir’s resignation, then ratify my appointment as acting chairman. Then, to prepare for the election of the new chairman. My only task is to ensure the transition process goes well,” said Maman.
The Minister of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises explained that the Mubeslub is being held because Adies Kadir has become a Constitutional Court judge. Under MK regulations, judges are required to resign from mass organisations affiliated with political parties.
“Mr Adies Kadir highly upholds constitutional principles, as MK judges are obliged to resign from organisations affiliated with political parties. He resigned from his position as MKGR chairman in early February 2026,” he said.
Maman also revealed the strongest candidate to replace Adies Kadir, one of whom is Golkar Vice Chairman Wihaji. Maman said support for Wihaji has come from MKGR administrators in the regions.
“Based on the opinions and aspirations that have emerged from MKGR administrators in the regions, they are proposing Mr Wihaji to become the MKGR Chairman. The majority are supporting Mr Wihaji. Registration opens on 9-10 July,” he said.
Maman stressed that all organisational mechanisms will be carried out according to the rules. According to him, the final decision remains in the hands of the Mubeslub forum.
