MK Holds Extraordinary Conference to Replace Adies Kadir as Chairman
The Golkar Party’s wing organisation, the Mutual Cooperation Family Council (MKGR), will hold an Extraordinary Conference (Mubeslub) on 11 July 2026 to elect a new chairman to replace Adies Kadir, who resigned after becoming a Constitutional Court (MK) judge. The conference will be opened in Jakarta and is expected to be attended by Golkar Party Chairman Bahlil Lahadalia, according to Acting MKGR Chairman Maman Abdurrahman on Monday. He explained that MK regulations require judges to resign from organisations affiliated with political parties, and Adies upheld this constitutional principle by stepping down in February 2026. The Mubeslub agenda includes accepting Adies Kadir’s resignation, appointing an acting chairman, and preparing for the election of a new chairman. Maman noted that Wihaji, a Deputy Chairman of the Golkar Party who also serves as Minister of Population and Family Development, is a potential candidate, with support emerging from several regions, though the final decision rests with the conference participants. Bahlil Lahadalia previously announced that Adies Kadir is no longer a Golkar official or member following the approval of his nomination as a Constitutional Court judge by the House of Representatives, stating the party has ‘waqf-ed’ one of its best cadres to the state.
