MK Chief to Anwar Usman: Thank You for Your Dedication and Service
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Constitutional Court (MK) Chief Justice Suhartoyo expressed thanks to Anwar Usman for serving as a constitutional justice for 15 years. He stated that he had learned much from Anwar Usman, who had demonstrated dedication and devotion at the MK. “Once again, thank you to His Honour Prof. Anwar Usman for his service, dedication, and devotion,” Suhartoyo said at Anwar Usman’s retirement ceremony at the MK Building in Jakarta on Monday (13/4/2026), quoted from the MKRI YouTube broadcast. According to him, the MK takes this as a lesson and continues to regard Anwar Usman as an example. “There may be certain aspects that have caused quite a stir in the news, but on the other hand, I have taken much wisdom from it, many good things that I follow and take as a model,” Suhartoyo said. “Next, to His Honour Mr Adies and Mr Liliek, of course, on behalf of the entire MK family, we extend a warm welcome and congratulations on joining the Constitutional Court,” Suhartoyo said. Meanwhile, Anwar Usman views his retirement from the MK as a new chapter in his life after 15 years of duty. He likened his departure from the MK to a baby being born into the world and a blank slate untouched by anything. “From the depths of my heart, I convey my apologies to all the Honourable Justices (MK judges), the assistants, and the entire MK family if during my 15 years at the Constitutional Court there were certainly things that were less than satisfactory,” he said. “Thus, from the tips of my toes to the ends of my hair, from the depths of my heart, I convey my deepest apologies and immeasurable thanks,” Anwar Usman concluded. Anwar Usman will be replaced by Liliek Prisbawono Adi, who is an MK justice nominated by the Supreme Court (MA).
