MK Chief Praises Anwar Usman's 15 Years of Dedication, Remembers the "Handsomest Judge"
JAKARTA - The Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court (MK), Suhartoyo, appreciated Anwar Usman’s service, which has completed his tenure as a constitutional judge for 15 years. He stated that Anwar’s dedication and commitment during his tenure provided a significant contribution to the Constitutional Court. “He has completed his service and dedication at the Constitutional Court for 15 years,” said Suhartoyo, during Anwar Usman’s retirement event at the MK Building on Monday (13/4/2026). The welcoming atmosphere was even tinged with warmth and jokes. He even admitted to hearing it directly from the former Deputy Speaker of the DPR, Adies Kadir, who is now a Constitutional Court Justice. “I heard it myself when delivering greetings, Mr Adies Kadir said that His Excellency Prof Anwar is his uncle as well as the handsomest judge at the MK,” he said. According to him, Anwar Usman’s departure from the Constitutional Court will leave its own impression on his colleagues. Suhartoyo also expressed appreciation for Anwar Usman’s contributions, even though his tenure was not free from public spotlight. He assessed that such dynamics are part of a judge’s journey in carrying out duties. “On one side, there is indeed quite lively reporting, but on the other side, I take a lot of lessons and good things that can be emulated,” he said. That, he said, is something normal in life. “Everyone surely has good notes as well as shortcomings. That is already Allah’s decree, the sunnah of Allah for every human being, especially in carrying out duties,” said Suhartoyo.
