Mixue Expands in Indonesia with 12,800 Local Jobs and 20,000 Supply Chain Roles

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Since first entering Indonesia in 2020, Chinese ice cream and tea chain Mixue has achieved massive business expansion through a franchise model. More than 1,400 locals have opened Mixue outlets across the Indonesian archipelago. Indonesia has become one of Mixue’s most important growth markets in Southeast Asia.

Alexs B, Head of Public Relations for Mixue Southeast Asia Region, stated that their current business ecosystem has absorbed tens of thousands of workers directly. “Currently, Mixue outlets in Indonesia directly provide around 12,800 jobs, with over 96% of the workforce being local,” Alexs said in a release received by Kompas.com on Monday, June 1, 2026.

Beyond in-store employment, Mixue’s business model has also created an economic multiplier effect through the local supply chain ecosystem they’ve established. The economic activities along this supply chain are claimed to have generated tens of thousands of new job opportunities in related sectors. “The economic activities generated by this supply chain indirectly support over 20,000 additional jobs,” Alexs said.

Despite the rapid proliferation of outlets, management claims their partnership operations are operating healthily. This business model is seen as positively boosting micro and small-scale local economic growth while providing a platform for locals to start their own businesses.

Through a community-based approach, Mixue aims not just to be known as the largest beverage chain, but also as a foreign investor with a strong social reputation. “Through close community engagement, Mixue continues to strive to deliver tangible benefits to society while growing alongside Indonesia,” Alexs concluded.
