Mivan wins RI contract
BELFAST (Reuter): Northern Ireland construction company Mivan
announced late last week it has won major contracts in Northern
Ireland and Indonesia.
It will be the main contractor on a 21 million pound (US$32.64
million) Hilton Hotel development at a new waterfront site in
Belfast and will build a $21 million apartment project for real
estate developers, Summarecon, in Jakarta.
Mivan, based in Antrim north of Belfast, said the Jakarta
project -- three high rise apartment buildings -- will begin on
Aug. 1, with completion by December 1997.
Work on the 14-story 182-bedroom Hilton, at Lanyon Place,a
development site close the city center, starts on Aug. 5 and will
create 100 construction jobs, Mivan said in a statement.
The contract is worth 15 million pounds to Mivan.
Ewart Plc, which with the Ladbroke Group, has jointly invested
in the project said that it would add an important international
aspect to the Lanyon Place development.
