TOKYO (Reuter): Japanese trading firm Mitsui & Co Ltd said it
would establish a joint venture with Indonesian
telecommunications company PT Telekomindo Primabhakti to offer
pager services in Indonesia.
The new venture, PT Buana Bintangbayu, will be capitalized at
Rp 8 billion (US$3.4 million) and owned 25 percent by Mitsui and
the rest by Telekomindo. They plan to invest 1.1 billion yen. The
venture will start offering pager services in January, initially
in Jakarta and two other cities, using Indonesia's communications
satellite.
It aims to have 340,000 subscribers in 20 cities by 2004.
