JAKARTA (JP): Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, a heavy machineries producer, opened yesterday a large-scale fair at the Jakarta Convention Center.

The three-day Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Jakarta Fair '97 features about 70 units of 30 types of machinery. On exhibit is the company's major products and technologies, ranging from ships and marine structures to aerospace systems.

The three-day fair is organized by the company's liaison office in Jakarta in coordination with state-owned shipbuilding company PT PAL Indonesia and local distributors.

The exhibition hall is divided into five zones: the transport zone, the energy and engine zone, the amusement and amenity zone, the construction and handling machinery zone and the industrial machinery zone.

The transport zone shows the company's latest technologies in the transport field, while the energy and engine zone introduces the company's power plants, gas turbines, generators and other engines.

The amusement and amenity zone focuses on air conditioners, district cooling systems and sound systems. It also features a special attraction called "Snow Fantasy", a machine that creates snow.

The construction and handling machinery zone exhibits the diverse range of products needed to support the construction and handling material industries, including a forklift, motor grader, bulldozer and a concrete pump mounted on a truck.

The industrial machinery zone displays the company's large facilities, such as chemical plants and cranes used at dockside and molding machines.

To complement the exhibition, technical seminars will be conducted daily, detailing the general maintenance and operating procedures of the company's products.

The seminars are targeted at engineers, businesspeople and students.

Mitsubishi entered Indonesia's market by opening its Jakarta Liaison Office in April 1984. It has completed numerous installations ranging from infrastructure facilities such as power plants and chemical plants; industrial machinery including paper manufacturing equipment and printing presses, and construction machinery and air conditioning systems.

The company hopes the exhibition will introduce visitors to its wide array of products and diversified technologies. (08)
