TOKYO (AFP): Japan's Mitsubishi Material Corp. said yesterday
its wholly-owned subsidiary had set up a company in Indonesia to
produce small motors for consumer electrical goods, such as air
conditioners, next year.

PT Higashifuji Indonesia, set up Higashifuji Manufacturing Co.
Ltd. was capitalized at US$1 million, the company said. It is
building a factory in suburban Jakarta with investment of about
250 million yen ($2.5 million), Mitsubishi said.

Production is scheduled to begin in January with monthly
output of 300,000 units, the company said.

Higashifuji Manufacturing has already begun production of
motors for consumer electricals in Malaysia, following a
production shift to Southeast Asia by Japanese manufacturers of
consumer electrical goods.
